Job Summary
The Buyer Associate will be responsible for procuring medical devices to support safe patient care across the entire UMH system providing both timely delivery of goods and providing inputs to complete the procure to pay cycle. The centralized buying team is responsible for 9,200+ items in the medical device formulary and a $150MIL annual spend.

Responsibilities*
- Provide Michigan Medicine an uninterrupted flow of materials and services while keeping inventory investments to a minimum.
- Manage the purchasing cycle, including generating requisitions, PO creation, PO follow-up, goods reception, and final payment.
- Assists with General inventory management to ensure right products are ordered at the right quantity to avoid risk of stock out.
- Assists with proactively identifying risks that affect supply, transformation, delivery, and customer demand and by developing strategies to minimize or manage risks.
- Assists with monitoring supplier performance utilizing available tools to measure and provide feedback.
- Assists with creating service schedules that maintain capacity levels to meet anticipated demand.
- Assist with Coverage as necessary.
- Support ongoing improvements in the purchasing cycle.
- Address data discrepancies and updates missing information in the ERP when applicable to ensure purchases are not held up.
- Apply logical and critical thinking skills to identify issues from master data and corrects accordingly.
- Support cross-functional projects to support department goals and continued improvement.
- Work under general supervision using independent judgment to complete required tasks.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- General proficiency in business intelligence tools such as Excel, GHX, etc.
- 2 Years of experience in Inventory Management, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Management, preferably in a Healthcare Setting
- General level of analytical and problem-solving skills sets with the ability to independently identify action items.
- Experience with ERP systems
