Job Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director for Enterprise Technology Services, the Data Engineer will play a critical role in the development and operational support of the new data lakehouse (Snowflake). This position focuses on creating detailed data mappings, documenting data transformations, and developing robust data pipelines, ensuring both new development and production support are managed effectively.Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain source to target mappings and document data transformations.
Build and support data pipelines for the institutional data lakehouse.
Address and resolve production support issues alongside new development tasks.
Collaborate with team members to improve and streamline data processes.
Contribute to the overall success of the data lakehouse through proactive development and maintenance efforts.
Adhere to shift-left principles for automated data pipeline testing and data quality engineering.
Ensure that data is accurate, timely and accessible to applications and people using the datamarts.
Translate agile user stories into technical specifications and actionable code.
Monitor data lakehouse performance and advise on any necessary infrastructure changes.
Assist and partner with technical and enrollment analytics teams to help and support datamart adoption and transition.
Liaise with ITS Systems and Network Services team to ensure cloud architecture and infrastructure needs are met for the data lakehouse.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in Python, SQL, SnapLogic, dbt, and Snowflake.
Experience in developing and maintaining data pipelines in a CI/CD framework with modern data tooling.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience with Tableau development preferred.
