Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Data Steward IV (SAP) to join our Golf Car team in Kennesaw, GA. The Data Steward IV (SAP) will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, focusing on leadership, strategy, and accountability in maintaining existing materials and accurately setting up new materials in SAP. This ensures that orders reflect the correct cost, delivery, and export information. Responsible for creating and maintaining SAP Variant Configuration objects, including bills of materials, Super Bill of Materials (BOMs), routings, super routings, material masters, and object dependencies. Additionally, they will identify data inconsistencies and proactively drive solutions to enhance overall system functionality and capability.  Furthermore, they will oversee all changes and upgrades to YGC systems, leveraging their expertise to guarantee successful implementations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • As the technical and strategic lead for all systems testing and validation, this role covers SAP (ECC, APO, MDG), the business portal, and any additional required systems. It is crucial to understand the impact of variant tables, new characteristic values, and object dependencies on previous year models, and how these changes affect existing sales orders. Additionally, this role involves leading and guiding others.
  • Leadership in Materials Management: Overseeing YGC materials management activities, which encompass life cycle management, KPI tracking, performance reporting, part setup, and the creation and maintenance of bills of materials.  Leading change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions during system upgrades or modifications, minimizing disruption to business operations.
  • Developing intricate variant configuration models involves the creation and maintenance of various components, including characteristics, classes, configurable materials, configuration profiles, Super BOMs, routings, object dependencies, variant tables, variant pricing, material variants, and sales order costing.
  • Gaining insight into the implications of altering pricing on characteristic values is crucial, as is understanding how to implement these changes without impacting existing sales orders.
  • System Design and Architecture: Contributing to the design and architecture of SAP solutions to ensure they align with both current and future business requirements.
  • Process Management: Overseeing and maintaining the processes related to the setup and documentation of new materials, including parts, accessories, and models, within the SAP (MDM and ECC) modules.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Serving as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting issues, coordinating with technical teams to resolve problems efficiently. This includes diagnosing issues and developing actionable plans and timelines using continuous improvement methodologies to address system outages, data inconsistencies, and other challenges that affect system functionality or user performance.
  • User Training and Support: Providing training sessions and support to end-users, helping them navigate the system effectively and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Documentation and Maintenance: Documenting and maintaining departmental procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for YGC Master Data. This includes creating and sustaining comprehensive documentation for processes, configurations, and system changes, as well as generating reports to monitor performance metrics.
  • Ensure existing materials in the systems are properly categorized and have no missing or incorrect data including lead time, pricing, parts classification, and other master data.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Accounting, Business, or Finance is preferred, with consideration given to an equivalent combination of work experience.
  • 10-12 years of experience in parts and accessories (sales or service), unit service, and/or data analysis within the automotive or manufacturing industries.
  • Led teams on projects for a minimum of 4-6 years.
  • 8 to 10 years of direct experience in SAP data management, with a comprehensive understanding of variant configuration models, including classes, characteristics, configuration profiles, tables, dependency nets with constraints, BOM Class Nodes, preconditions, procedures, complex bills of materials, and routings. This includes design, testing, documentation, and deployment of variant configuration bills of materials.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated experience working effectively in cross-functional team environments.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to generate insightful reports and performance metrics.
