Job Purpose
Gas Engineering Design is responsible for the design of standard and complex gas distribution projects allowing for the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers. Distribution specifically supports the design of main and service replacement, reliability, and growth. The engineer position is within a progression to develop into a technical subject matter expert for natural gas system design.
Key Accountabilities
- Facilitate, coordinate, and organize a program of gas distribution projects relating to the gas systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Make authoritative technical recommendations to provide design solutions that are of appropriate quality and level of detail throughout design and construction.
- Accountable that designs meet all engineering best practices, meets all National Grid, State, and Federal Standards.
- Perform design quality peer reviews.
- Prepare and manage state and local permit applications.
- Assist in the training of Engineers within the department on Distribution Engineering.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline is required. At least 2 years of engineering, design, or project management experience.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is preferred.
- An advanced degree and/or certification is desirable but not required.
- Experience in the application of design and construction standards, engineering drawings, and underground construction methods and procedures.
- Technical knowledge of natural gas system design and operations including natural gas industry codes and regulations, engineering and environmental codes and standards.
- Must have a valid driver's licensewith safe driving history.

Salary - $88,000 - $104,000 a year
