Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin's best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability.

We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable mechanical engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on Energetics Aging in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the PBCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The PBCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the PBCS which is an attitude control and propulsive subsystem controlling the missile in a phase of the flight.

As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to join our aging team focused on solid rocket motors. This team collaborates with suppliers and Navy partners to establish an aging program that focuses on establishing tests, analysis, and data analysis to established confidence and potentially extend the life of a solid rocket motor. This position will require both internal collaboration with IPT partners as well as external collaboration with customer and supplier. Technical reports, data review, and presentations are critical to establishing program priorities and communicating risk in this position.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience with engineering lifecycle of energetic materials (examples: development, aging, or production)
- Any combination of experience in: engineering project management, supplier management, annual budget proposals, technical evaluations, tracking and development of cost/schedule
- Exposure to or participation with risk and opportunity identification
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Experience in working with suppliers and external customers
Desired Skills:
One or more of the following:
- Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience
- Experience with FBM processes and products
- Experience in data review and analysis
-Experience with creating test matrices and related statistical analysis (i.e. establishing a % confidence level given a dataset)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative
- Experience with engineering principles of solid propellant rocket motors

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
