As a Financial Reporting Accountant III on our Accounting & Reporting team, you'll play a crucial role in preparing accurate and timely financial statements under GAAP, SSAP, and internal reporting requirements for the Premera group of companies. Reporting to the Accounting and Reporting Manager, you'll provide technical expertise in multi-company reporting functions for Premera Blue Cross and its subsidiaries.

What You'll Do:
- Prepare consolidated financial statements per GAAP, including financials for the board and executive management.
- Handle quarterly and annual statutory filings in accordance with SSAP and individual state insurance departments' regulations.
- Manage month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Research and recommend solutions for GAAP and statutory accounting transactions and reporting requirements. Support annual GAAP and statutory audits.
- Collaborate with management and associates in other functional areas to assist with accounting-related review and policy development.
- Seek opportunities for process improvement to gain efficiencies and support implementation.
- Anticipate the impact of the changing business environment on assigned work areas and adjust work assignments and processes as necessary.
What you will bring (Required):
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA Certification
- 2 years of public accounting experience - OR - 5 years of non-public accounting experience
- Proficiency with data management and research tools (Excel and Word)
- Solid analytical and research skills with attention to detail
- Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Additional Preferred backgrounds/ experiences include:
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- Collaborative problem-solving skills, including recommendation and implementation of improvements
- Proven leadership ability

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Plus Salary Range:
$81,900.00 - $139,200.00*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
