Position Overview: We're hiring a Senior System Administrator to join our team at Scott Air Force Base located near O'Fallon, IL. This position is critical to support the USTC . The successful candidate will provide system administration experience to maintain, configure, and reliably operate the functionality and efficiency of one or more operating systems
Location: On-site at Scott Air Force Base
Position Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Unix and Linux operating systems and applications.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure system security, availability, and performance
- Patch, maintain, and test YUM patch repository for RedHat
- Manage and maintain virtualization environments using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and KVM to ensure efficient resource utilization, scalability, and high availability
- Complete DISA STIG checklist for the systems and write and maintain POA&Ms as required
- Implement, configure, and manage authentication mechanisms in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including LDAP, Kerberos, SSSD, and PAM, to ensure secure user access and identity management
- Participate in the planning and implementation of system upgrades and new deployments
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements for system administration and security
- Manage user accounts and access permissions, and maintain system documentation
- Provide technical support to end-users and collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex technical issues
Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience
- Expertise in Windows 10 and 11 client infrastructure and Windows Server 2016 and 2019
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and associated tools and utilities
- Knowledgeable of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and Unix commands
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Red Hat KVM
- Experience with authentication mechanisms in RHEL such as LDAP, Kerberos, SSD, and PAM
- Experience with scheduling tasks in Linux/Unix
- Knowledge of how SQL and Oracle correlate with RHEL
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and associated protocols
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and regulatory requirements such as DISA STIGs, FIPS, and NIST guidelines
- Understanding of Tanium, Cisco ISE, HBSS, and Trellex security systems
- Heavy expertise in troubleshooting - ideally having background in service desk and experience with ServiceNow
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field
- Must have at least one of these IAT Level II certifications: Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP
- Must have at least one Computing Environment (CE) certification or certificate for the technical area of responsibility for Network support/defense (e.g., Splunk, Cisco, McAfee, etc.) OR Operating System (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, Solaris, etc.)
Security Qualifications:
- Active Secret security clearance issued by the Department of Defense
- Position is only open to U.S. Citizens
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in relevant field of study
- ITIL Foundations (v3 or higher) certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Google Project Management certification
- One of the IAM Level II certifications: CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, CCISO, HCISPP
- Experience in using SPLUNK and or WireShark
