The Wellesley Recreation Department is looking for a Summer Camp Nurse to ensure the health and safety of our campers and staff.
As the camp nurse, you will be responsible for first aid, medication administration, and injury and illness management.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety: Provide first aid for minor injuries (cuts, scrapes, bruises, dehydration, etc.), handle medical emergencies, and administer medications.
- Medical Records: Maintain and review camper health records, ensure immunization compliance, and document all visits to the health center.
- Staff Training: Train counselors on first aid procedures, emergency response, and medication administration.
- Parent Communication: Keep parents informed of any medical concerns, injuries, or illnesses.
- First Aid Kits: Ensure all first-aid kits throughout camp are stocked and maintained.
- Camper Support: Work with staff to support campers with behavioral or medical needs, including food allergies and other health concerns.
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician’s Assistant (PA) in Massachusetts.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience working with children (camp, school, or pediatric setting preferred).
- Strong organizational skills for managing health records and medication.
- Ability to handle emergencies calmly and efficiently.
- Good communication skills with staff, parents, and campers.
Other information:
- The schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM.
- Starting rate: $25/hr. DOQ.
- 40 hours per week.
