SUPPY CHAIN PROGRAM SPECIALIST

Richmond, Virginia

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Supply Chain Program Specialist to assist with program outreach and provide support to Virginia businesses wishing to optimize their supply chain management processes through Virginia’s Supply Chain Optimization Program (SCOP). The Supply Chain Program Specialist will report to and support the Senior Supply Chain Program Manager.

Virginia’s Supply Chain Optimization Program helps Virginia businesses evaluate and strengthen their supply chain processes for inputs and components used in future exporting initiatives. Companies that participate in the program can receive reimbursement for supply chain-related expenses as well as training from supply chain experts.

This position is part of VEDP’s International Trade division, which is recognized as the leading state international trade development program in the U.S. VEDP’s International Trade division provides a range of resources such as customized market research, international business meetings, and grant programs to assist Virginia businesses with growing their international sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan educational and networking events for businesses participating in the Supply Chain Optimization Program by identifying trends in supply chain optimization, proposing relevant content, identifying speakers, and coordinating event details with colleagues
  • Create and update materials for events, such as handouts and presentations, based on marketing guidelines
  • Review and approve requests for reimbursement from businesses while following program guidelines
  • Support the program recruitment process by coordinating a pipeline of target companies and checking the eligibility of applicants, and proactively identifying potential participants
  • Develop program outreach opportunities such as emails and social media posts to keep the program community informed about relevant topics and upcoming events
  • Help maintain and leverage data in Salesforce by creating reports and updating program data as requested
  • Update and maintain accurate program documents including application forms, reimbursement forms, and program guidelines
  • Contribute and implement ideas to support the growth of the program
  • Coordinate research projects with the VEDP research team and program participants
  • Track the progress of research projects and provide regular updates on project status
  • Assist Senior Program Manager in counseling Virginia businesses during meetings to understand their needs, current supply chain initiatives, and progress in the program

Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain a high level of accuracy when reviewing requests from businesses and colleagues
  • Superior skills in building relationships with team members and businesses with the ability to provide efficient, friendly, and thorough support
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Comfortable using technology such as Salesforce to track and prioritize requests
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to be responsive, helpful, courteous, and professional when working with colleagues and businesses
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience:

  • Professional experience with supply chain management, event planning, marketing, communications, business administration, or international affairs
  • Experience applying guidelines and procedures when working on projects, whether in an academic or professional setting
  • Awareness of foreign cultures or international business practices is preferred

This position is based in VEDP’s office in Richmond, Virginia three days each week and has the option to telework two days each week according to VEDP’s hybrid work policy. This position requires occasional in-state and international travel.
