Location: This position is onsite at the Parnell Service Center located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
This role is responsible for leading a 24/7 operational team of Union and/or Non-exempt employees that maintain assets within fleet, facilities and supply chain/warehousing operations. They lead safe and reliable operations of our company fleet, buildings and materials and logistics teams supporting Gas, Electric and Generation operations. This role interacts with the operations leadership, Union leadership, vendor and state-wide contractor management. This role will be responsible for the oversight of key initiatives supporting safety, quality, delivery, cost and leadership development for the three areas listed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives internally and externally to improve safety, comply with standards and procedures, manage overall cost while delivering value for coworkers and customers.
- Manage all financial elements for the area of responsibility, including Labor, Materials, Supplies, Overtime, Business Expenses, Outside Contractor Cost, etc.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling resources/processes to achieve project objectives within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints. Using technical expertise, execute scope changes, conduct Quality Assessments and other more technical aspects of the work. Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
- Responsible for leading a diverse workforce, through organizing and implementing staffing plans, coaching & mentoring programs, training requirements, and employee skill enhancement/development opportunities for Non-Exempt and OM&C co-workers. A working knowledge of Union contract is needed in order to manage grievances and other concerns.
- Responsible for attending and supporting pre-planning meetings with stakeholders (work week leader, and operations leadership; ex: Electric/Gas leadership). Attend crew room meetings for updates on fleet related items and build relationships to collaborate with operators and establish repair priorities.
- Lead the team throughout emergency events to provide proper support including during storm restoration, gas emergencies and mutual assistance assignments utilizing ICS.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Conflict resolution skills and understanding of the union contract
- Strong leadership, communication, learning and partnering skills
- Understands the internal and external relationships between technology and processes
- Proficient with MS Office suite, SAP & Arcos
- Knowledge of operations in a regulated environment
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of company-wide and departmental safety policies and procedures
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related field with 2 years of relevant experience OR
- Associate Degree in Business Management or related field with 4 years of relevant experience OR
- High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of relevant experience.
